2023 at the CRC
They say numbers tell a story, and we have some surprising CRC facts and figures to share with you…
Behind these numbers are people like you. We appreciate the CRC family and our Catskills community. And we’re grateful to be a part of your healthy lifestyle.
But there’s one more number to highlight: 28%. That is the portion of our annual budget that membership fees cover. It might suprise you to learn just how much donor support means to keeping our doors open and our classes and events going.
The Catskills Recreation Center is a nonprofit organization that relies on grants and donations. The year-end giving season is an important time for us to reach our financial goals. Please help us, if you are able.
The Catskill Recreation Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Our Member’s Goals
🚴♀️ 29 miles
Last September, we invited CRC Board Member Kent Garrett to capture the Catskill Mountain Cycling Challenge on video. Kent hasn’t ridden a bike since he was a kid, but he was inspired by the beauty and camaraderie of the riders. His goal is to ride in this year’s Catskill Mountain Cycling Challenge!
Watch the video we made about Kent.
500lbs
Clinton Zimmerman doesn’t take anything too seriously except perhaps being consistent and having good form. When Clint isn’t lifting seriously-heavy weights at the CRC, he’s an Apprentice Lineman in Fleischmanns or helping with CRC events such as the Halloween Trick or Treat Trail event (thank you, Clint!)
Clint’s goal is to lift 500 lbs by the end of the year and have fun doing it. He says, “It feels good to be in shape, to accomplish something physically.”

To keep swimming
Josh Weinstein has questions. Every time he swims at the Catskill Recreation Center, he wonders, “Is this really as fast as I can swim?” And what happened to the video footage of him swimming in the Hudson river in 2006?
Watch the video we made about Josh.
It’s about Personal Records
Diego Silva Sanchez is a 20-year-old MCS graduate who visits the gym regularly to work on his goal. He’s not trying to break world records - just a personal one. By the end of the year, his record is to bench press two plates - 90lbs.
Watch the video we made about Diego.
Swimming – It’s a Meditation
If you’re a regular in the pool - you will have seen Elizabeth Kramer. Elizabeth is recovering from cancer treatment, and every time she swims, she tries for a mile - 72 lengths. She swims and counts, swims and counts, and tells us, “it’s a meditation.” Watch the video we made about Elizabeth to hear about her goal.
